The Studio Theatre, home of the Lowestoft Movie Makers lies in Sparrow’s Nest Gardens. It is converted from a building built during the war by the Navy as a medical centre for the HMS Europa shore base situated there. It also served as ticket office and band room for the, now demolished, theatre. The building was saved by a club member working there at the time. We were looking for an alternative venue following the sale for development of our old home. An initial effort by club members managed to have the theatre ready for the start of the 1985 season. Then with the chance of obtaining new seats, in 2003, a full scale refurbishment was decided upon. The efforts of a batch of dedicated members was again called upon. So we now have a Club House the envy of many other clubs with non-permanent facilities. Why not view the video and see how it was done.
