Closing date for FILM OF THE YEAR entries

1937 - 2018

Harold joined the Lowestoft Cine Club in 1970 and in 1971 became Competition Secretary, a position he filled for the next forty seven years. This is one of the most demanding of posts; the weekly setting of the running order; receiving entries; and dealing with the mammoth task of arranging the engraving of the trophies and certificates but he dealt with this in his own unflappable way. In this he was ably supported by his wife, Marion, the club secretary. He also took on the position of Chairman, a position he retained for fourteen years. As a Fellow of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers, he was responsible for arranging the Annual General Meeting seminars for the IAC, a weekend event. If an outside show for some organisation was booked Harold was always there promoting the interests of the Club. Harold was also the Chairman of local branch of the Royal Air Force Association. To fully list what Harold bought to the club would be an immoderation, suffice to say that Harold was the Lowestoft Movie Makers Club and will be sadly missed and our thoughts and hearts are with his wife, Marion and stepson Graham, at this sad time.

Harold’s funeral will be at Beccles Crematorium on Thursday 12th April at 1pm. No flowers please but donations to the Air Ambulance charity. All are invited afterwards to The Studio Theatre, Sparrows Nest for refreshments and an afternoon of remembrance for Harold.
